Volunteer & Internships

Volunteers & interns are essential to our work.  If you’re looking for a way to gain valuable experience while learning about environmental justice, we have volunteer and internship opportunities ranging from researching corporate polluters to developing flyers, fact sheets and other materials to writing for legal cases.  We can often offer course credits for most internships.

Law School Internships and Legal Post-Graduate Fellowships

As of February 2025, the 2025 summer legal internship program is no longer accepting applications. If you are looking for an academic year internship, please reach out via fellowships@cbecal.org. Summer 2026 hiring is expected to open in late summer 2025.

For law students seeking legal internships (summer or academic year), and for law students or recent graduates seeking legal fellowship placements, we review applications on a rolling basis until positions are filled. Please send a cover letter and resume (as a single pdf with your name at the start, e.g. “Sam Example internship application”) to the Hiring Committee at fellowships@cbecal.org and make the first words of the email subject line your name (e.g. “Sam Example internship application”). For all positions, please indicate a regional preference between Northern California or Southern California, or that you would work in either. For post-graduate fellowships, please also indicate which sources of funding you have identified to apply to.
