(Full Event Details) April Membership Meeting: Earth Day, AB617, Wellness, and Political Landscape of SELA.
Spring is here, and so is our April Membership Meeting! This month, we honor Earth Day as a time to reaffirm our fight for environmental justice and liberation! Last year, our East Oakland members used Earth Day to uplift the voices of incarcerated people, recognizing that those behind bars are on the frontlines of environmental racism and the climate crisis. From occupied Palestine, to the Bay, to LA mass incarceration is deeply connected to environmental harm! Register here: bit.ly/cbeaction
In addition, we will take a deep dive into AB617, a California law aimed at reducing toxic air pollution in frontline communities. Poor air quality is a public health crisis, contributing to respiratory illnesses, cancer, and strokes, disproportionately harming children and elders. AB617 provides funding and community-led solutions to address this crisis—join us to learn the harms of air pollution and how you can take action by joining an AB617 Steering Committee!
We will turn inward, focusing on our emotional wellness as we continue this important work. Together, we will explore tools for grounding and healing, including a guided breathing exercise and accessible wellness resources to help us return to our bodies and mend our spirits.
Finally, we are launching a political education series to strengthen civic engagement across the communities we serve. This month, we will focus on Southeast Los Angeles, breaking down its political landscape, upcoming elections, current representation, and ways to build power locally!
Reunion Estatal de Miembros de CBE Acción-13 de abril de 2025, 5:30-7pm
